Qualis Health Award of Excellence in Healthcare Quality 2009
St. Luke’s Magic Valley has earned a Qualis Health Award of Excellence in Healthcare Quality for work with “Pre-Op Shower Kits: Reducing the risk for surgical site infections.” The Pre-Op shower kits were a cooperative effort among the Infection Prevention, Peri-Anesthesia, Pre-Admissions, and Surgery departments at St. Luke’s, and orthopedic spine surgeon Dr. David Christensen and his staff. The shower kits were designed to decrease the chance of patients acquiring an infection following surgery, leading to shorter hospital stays and faster recovery time.
Most Wired 2009
St. Luke's Magic Valley Regional Medical Center along with 20 other regional hospitals that utilize health information technology solutions from Inland Northwest Health Services (INHS),earned the distinction of being among the most technologically-advanced hospitals in the country, according to results of the 2009 Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study released in the July issue of Hospitals & Health Networks magazine.
Hospitals and Health Networks surveyed more than 1,300 hospitals to name the “100 Most Wired” hospitals in the annual survey, measuring the hospitals’ use of information technologies for quality, customer service, public health and safety, business processes and workforce issues.
Idaho Chapter March of Dimes Nurse of the Year Awards 2009
Eight nurses from St. Luke's Health System received 2009 Nurse of the Year awards from the Idaho Chapter of the March of Dimes. Two nurses from St. Luke’s Magic Valley, three from
St. Luke’s Wood River, two from St. Luke’s Boise, and one from St. Luke’s Meridian were honored.
Joint Commission Accreditation 2008
St. Luke’s Magic Valley was fully accredited by the Joint Commission in 2005. The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit organization that accredits and certifies more than 15,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States. Joint Commission accreditation and certification is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting important performance standards.

The purpose of Hospitals & Health Networks’ Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study is to promote the effective use of information technology in achieving clinical and operational excellence.
VHA Award for Excellence in Critical Care 2007
St. Luke's Magic Valley received the 2007 VHA Award for Excellence in Critical Care for our TICU (Transformation of the ICU) program. TICU is a national clinical effort to support evidence-based practice initiatives that improve outcomes and safety for patients in critical care units. The award honors organizations that have distinguished themselves from other VHA members by achieving national performance standards.
